The Michelin Guide's review
This religious complex, founded in 1645 by royal decree of Philip IV, is distributed around a peaceful little square. It encompasses the Carmelite convent, created in 1648 and still active (not open to visitors), and the Iglesia del Carmen (open during services), which houses two chapels: the oldest (1645) is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel; the second (1848) to Our Lady of Chiquinquirá. The fine Museo del Carmen, adjoining, exhibits religious artwork and objects dating from the 17C to 20C.
