The Michelin Guide's review
Each of the two 17C strongholds is presented in its original state. Perfectly incorporated into the hill, encircled by moats, they have an irregular polygon shape and are fortified by six bastions with a double redan and watchtowers and advance fortifications in front. There are two monumental gate stands, north and south, emblazoned with the royal coats of arms and that of the governor. From the north ramparts, there is a pretty view over the Minho valley, Tui and the hills of Galicia.
