This museum houses the collections assembled by the university since it was founded in 1636: anatomical objects and wax models, dental and ophthalmic medicine collections, stuffed animals, fossils and skeletons (cabinet of curiosities), plus a standard metre and kilogram. A laboratory (Jeugdlab) has also been specially created for children. A botanical garden (Oude Hortus) from 1724, featuring several glasshouses, is located behind the museum.
