Here the river has carved out a passage through a maze of rocks and now runs along the foot of some impressive cliffs. Without doubt the most spectacular site in the Bode valley is the Roßtrappe or Charger's Hoofmark. A viewpoint, jutting out dizzyingly over the gorge below, affords a breathtaking view of the valley and distant woods.
