The Pearl of the Orient tower (1994, 468m), a banner erected at the tip of Pudong, signals the presence of the new city, the one that is building Shanghai's future. Created in the spirit of the Brussels Atomium, this assembly of concrete tubes and spheres looks ready to take off. On the second and third levels, there is a 360° view of the city that stretches endlessly to the horizon. In its basement, the Shanghai History Museum presents reconstructions of traditional habitats and striking historical scenes.
