The Michelin Guide's review
A pleasant valley surrounded by rolling hills cradles the only surviving outpost of the San Diego de Alcalß Mission, established in 1818. The present stucco chapel (1924), located just north of the original church site, serves as a parish church and houses a small museum of original mission photographs and Native American artifacts. Excavations in the 1960s uncovered cobblestone flooring from the original church (visible downhill near a windmill).
