The romantic Griboyedov Canal, which formerly bore the name of Catherine, is spanned by numerous bridges adding to its charm and picturesque quality. They are all different, some of them adorned with animal figures, such as the charming Lion Bridge decorated with four sculptures of lions guarding it. The heroes in Crime and Punishment often cross back and forth over these little bridges.
