When he built the cathedral, Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich, created Residence Square, adorned with a fine fountain (group of horses, tritons and atlases). This square, the largest of the city, is the venue of all the major festive and annual events of Salzburg. To the east, the Glockenspiel, a belfry with 35 bells, chimes every day at 7am, 11am and 6pm.
