This museum takes you on an interesting journey through the history of this prestigious company. The founding of Lorient, the roaring success of the 18C, the crews, the cargo, the trading posts in India, Africa and China... Maps and furniture add to your understanding of the substantial and profitable trade that went on in the 17C and 18C. One room is devoted to the company navy with scale models of ships such as the Comte d'Artois which were produced in the shipyards of Lorient. There is a very fine collection of variously decorated Chinese porcelain.
