The Michelin Guide's review
This unassuming palazzo houses one of the world's finest private art collections. The original collection consists of paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures which once belonged to Cardinal Federico Borromeo, who donated it to the Ambrosiana library. Arranged over two floors and 26 very well-organised rooms, the museum presents magnificent works of Italian and international art from the 15C to 20C, including many major names in European art.
