Occupying an old warehouse in West India Docks, this appealing museum traces the history of Docklands from Roman times to today. It pays special attention to those who worked here, particularly the workmen and dockers whose living conditions were hard and whose labour relations were often the source of social conflicts. The fine reconstruction of grim alleys with pubs, shops, slums and cut-throats helps bring things to life.
