The Michelin Guide's review
Point Reyes Lighthouse is one of the most captivating lighthouses of the whole West Coast of the United States. Perched halfway up a 180m-tall cliff, it looks down on the Pacific. To reach it, you have to climb down around 300 steps in the wind and mist (the stairway is closed if the weather is too bad). In clear weather, the panoramic view over the whole coast is breath-taking. It's also an excellent point from which to observe the migration of grey whales (December-April).
