The Michelin Guide's review
This Heritage and Art Centre, on the site of the old tollhouse that once stood on the elegant twin-arch bridge over the River Helmsdale, built by Telford, showcases the heritage and history of the Highlands through a series of life-size scenes and exhibits. It tells tales of Vikings (to whom Helmsdale owes its name), witches, wolves and ghosts. The most harrowing scenes chart the story of the Highland Clearances when farmers were evicted in the 19C.
