Paul and Maria travelled around Europe for over a year in search of furniture, paintings and precious objects to embellish their Pavlosk and Gatchina estates. From their travels they brought back in particular the Gobelin Tapestries that were a gift from Louis XVI, which decorate the Throne Room of Paul I.
