The Michelin Guide's review
Discovered in 1975, this cave owes its name to the skeleton of a bear which supposedly became trapped here 20 000 years. The story goes that there were around 100 others in the same predicament and this, the last survivor, devoured them all. This variation on the Raft of the Medusa story should not detract from this remarkable cave, with its superb white concretions, stalagmites and talactites that grow half a centimetre per decade.
