Created during the reign of Henry VIII, this cradle of Britain's maritime might saw the construction of almost 500 ships. Today, the Historic Dockyard is open to the public and organises displays. Visitors can see how flags and sails are made in the Sail and Colour Loft, follow the construction of a sail-powered ship in the Wooden Walls gallery and climb on board a historic warship or a submarine.
