Certain parts of the park intersect the reserves and ancestral lands of the Coconuco and the Yanacona. Traversed by two wide rivers, the Cauca and the Magdalena, and ranged between altitudes of 2 500 and 5 000m, Puracé displays incredible biodiversity: the ecosystems that develop here go from low swampy ground via jungle vegetation to snow-capped peaks. The hiking paths that cut across it take you to hot springs, waterfalls and around 50 lakes.
