The Michelin Guide's review
Strategically placed high above the Malpaso Valley, La Quemada, built in the 3C and abandoned before the 12C, is known as the "place of seven caves", a possible starting point for the seven Nahuatl tribes that settled in the Valley of Mexico. The highly suggestive ruins evoke the power of the fortress that once stood here. The five levels are built in tiers on the hillside, separated by very narrow stairways and tortuous trails. Admire the Salón de las Columnas (1st floor) and the view from the Ciudadela.
