Whether or not you're staying in Vichy, the city's many examples of architectural exuberance from the heyday of spa treatment, are a must. These range from the neo-Baroque (palais des Parcs, 15 Bd de Russie; Aletti Palace, Rue Aletti; and the Hôtel du Parc, 21-23 Rue du Parc), to the neo-Louis XIII (Hôtel des Ambassadeurs, Rue du Casino), and Art deco (Ermitage du Pont-Neuf, Square Albert Ier). Several such edifices housed Pétain's government during WWII.
