Convento del Santo Ecce Homo
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The Convent of the Santo Ecce Homo, founded in 1620, is worth a visit. Its chapel has a beautiful wooden ceiling and gilded altarpiece; sun and moon motifs adorn the arch that precedes the apse. In the cloister, the 33 columns represent Christ's age. Then you come to some rooms, in which paintings, priestly vestments, liturgical objects and ancient books, as well as tools and indigenous Muisca clothing are displayed. Finally, outside, notice the numerous fossils embedded in the stone.
