Devoted to creation, research and teaching, the City of Design is located in the former Weapons' manufacturing factory. Among the different edifices, the "Platine", a 6,000m² area, devoid of walls and pillars but with a surprising roof, is the venue for temporary exhibitions. The city is dominated by a 32m-high metallic tower, the top of which commands a fine view. In odd years, the City of Design is the nerve centre of the prestigious International Biennial.
