The historic centre of Seoul laid out around the town hall is where the majority of the city's public transport networks, underground shopping malls, hotels, offices, luxury department stores, countless boutiques and major historic monuments, including Deoksu palace, are located. Since the River Cheonggye has been "returned" to its original course, the city also boasts a pleasant riverside walk that provides an opportunity for old and new to rub shoulders.
