This National Historic Landmark near Market Square is Texas' sole surviving example of a colonial aristocrat's home. It was completed in 1749 (as the date on its massive door indicates) and restored in 1931. Self-guided tours wind through an enclosed fountain courtyard and chambers furnished with 18C antiques.
