St George Palace and garden
Michelin Guide
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The palace was built in 1670 as a new wing of the Benedictine Abbey of St George, which was founded in the 11C. Transformed into a barracks after the French Revolution, its long façade still features above its 18 arcades the name of the abbess who was behind its construction, Magdelaine de La Fayette. A fine formal garden that is open to the public lies in front of the building.
