The Boa Viagem neighbourhood is best known for its 7km-long beach, the most famous in the city. The beach is hemmed in by a strip of reefs that form natural pools at low tide and are entirely covered at high tide. There are plenty of sporting activities on offer, as well as food outlets selling simple snacks. The space caters to all sorts and does get quite crowded (especially in the central part). Beware of sharks!
