Puebla is known for its talavera. This pottery, originating in the Spanish town of Talavera de la Reina, was introduced to Mexico in the 16C and exhibits Moorish and Chinese influences. The stalls at the Mercado de Artesanías del Parián, east of the Zócalo, are full of them and might be a good place to pick up a souvenir from Puebla.
