Butte Montmartre

Worth the trip
City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
Perched 130m above the city, Montmartre is a village with its own tourist office, steep and narrow alleyways and even a small vineyard. It is a hamlet where painters and portrait artists have set up residence following in the footsteps of Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and Picasso. The hill has its very own history, local life, secret hideouts and artists' workshops, as well as typical nooks and crannies and steep flights of steps which open out onto incredible views of Paris and beyond. Not to be missed!
