The elegant Velarde Palace (18C) and Casa de Oviedo-Portal (17C) are home to the Oviedo Fine Arts Museum, which has a large collection of art from the Middle Ages to the present day, in which Asturian artists are particularly well represented. The portrait of Charles II by Júan Carreño de Miranda (1614-1685), a pupil of Vélasquez, is one of the centrepieces.
