The castle, overlooking the town of Nelahozeves, houses one of the finest art collections in the country, with over a thousand paintings (Velasquez, Canaletto, Cranach the Elder, and, most notably, Pieter Bruegel's Haymaking), various items of furniture from different periods and numerous sacred objects belonging to the Lobkowicz family, the owners of this Renaissance-style castle (1552). This large country residence has the formidable look of a northern Italian castello, with corner bastions and rustic bosses highlighted by sgraffiti.
