The Michelin Guide's review
At the limit of Mystra's old town, the Despot's Palace occupies two sides of a vast esplanade, where public assemblies and parties were held. The oldest part of the complex is on the right, probably built by William of Villehardouin. The ogival windows and the stone balcony are evocative of Western architecture. The other buildings are due to the despots who succeeded each other in the 14C and 15C.
