The Michelin Guide's review
The famous Rocher du Diamant, a volcanic plug emerging 175m out of the sea, lies off the coast of the town of Diamant. Flocks of seabirds, boobies and tropicbirds circle ceaselessly overhead, while a wide variety of wildlife, in particular, mabouyas (snakes) and anolis (lizards), have colonised its slopes. The best view from land is from a car park at the Pointe du Diamant, 5km past the village. Its transparent waters (with a visibility that can reach a depth of up to 70m), underwater caves, faults and coral also make it a prime diving spot.
