This rocky crag visible for miles around rises to an altitude of 1 732m. It can be reached by a spectacular road, skirting the rock through slabs of green shale. The sweeping panoramas extend over the Hurdes mountains to the south, the heights of Portugal to the west, the Castilian plain as far as Salamnaca to the north, and the Sierra de Gredos to the east. There is a Dominican monastery and a hostelry run by the monks at the top.
