The Michelin Guide's review
Karatay Medrese is one of the most beautiful Seljuk Koranic schools in Konya. Built in 1251 by the emir Celaleddin Karatay, it is worth a visit both for its architecture and for the fascinating ceramics museum now housed in the building. A plain, yet majestic portal of polychrome marble opens into an inner courtyard. A large room at the end of the courtyard is crowned with a dome 12m in diameter, which is connected to the walls by four pendentives consisting of five triangles. Beautiful faience tiles are exhibited in the two rooms to the left of the entrance.
