Surrounded by a high concrete wall to increase visitors' safety, this desert plateau is home to the royal necropolises of three pharaohs from the Fourth Dynasty. The gigantic Pyramid of Khufu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, stands majestically, flanked by those of Chephren and Mykerinos. These tombs are in keeping with pharaonic civilisation in their majesty. Next to the pyramids, the Sphinx has been keeping watch for 4 500 years. A magical place to visit.
