Goethe's family home was reconstructed after 1945 and now houses an exhibition retracing the life of the Goethe family in Frankfurt in the 18C, as well as a collection of documents relating to the poet's early works. The adjoining museum houses a gallery of paintings dating from the time of Goethe. Of particular interest are the paintings by Füssli and Friedrich.
