With the Leidsestraatweg running through it, this wood surrounds the Huis ten Bosch royal palace, the backdrop for a famous peace conference held here in 1899. It connects the centre of The Hague with the wooded estates of Wassenaar, once teeming with game and the favoured hunting ground for the Counts of Holland. It was transformed into a park in 1820.
