Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The upside-down T-shaped limestone Hall of State is one of North America's Art deco masterpieces and easily recognizable by its huge blue mosaic facade. Dedicated to the history of Texas, it showcases six huge bronze casts by Pompeo Coppini, a tribute to the state's six founding fathers. The frescoes in the main hall, where the influence of Mexican muralists is obvious, chart historic events. The side halls are devoted to the different regions of Texas.
