The Michelin Guide's review
On the Inca Trail, a mythical trek completed by thousands of hikers each year, the extraordinary ruins of Wiñay Wayna (2 650m) rise up before you. Perched on a rocky spur in the heart of the forest and overlooking the Urubamba Valley, 5km before you arrive at Machu Picchu, the ruins make for a breathtaking sight even from a distance. It is a marvel that such skilful construction work could have been carried out on such sheer and remote terrain. Unique!
