The Michelin Guide's review
Wuhou Shrine is bound to the history of the heroes and knights who lived 18 centuries ago. It is the historical gesture of the Three Kingdoms (220-280), one of the "Four Extraordinary Books" of Chinese literature. The current complex dates from the reign of the emperor Kangxi (1661-1722). Of particular interest are the gallery with statues of 50 dignitaries, the temples of sage Zhuge Liang and of Lui Bei, founder of the Shu Han kingdom in 220, whose burial place is hidden away in a vast burial mound.
