The Michelin Guide's review
This museum occupies a magnificent building designed by Ernst Eberhardt von Uhne (1848-1917). The main body of the building consists of columns and pilasters crowned with a balustrade adorned with figures and a copper dome. Reopened in 2006, the restored museum houses 2,000 works of art dating from Antiquity to the early 19C. Exhibits include 150 paintings by Old Masters, a rich collection of sculptures, the Museum of Byzantine Art, and a collection of coins.
