The Michelin Guide's review
This Gothic-Renaissance-style church was built in the 1620s by Pieter de Keyser, based on plans drawn up by his father Hendrick. It is the most important Protestant church in the city. Rembrandt was buried in a common grave here on 8 October 1669. The interior is particularly sober in appearance. The bell tower (85m/278ft in height) is home to a remarkable set of bells by François Hemony and boasts a superb view over the city's canals and the Jordaan district.
