The Michelin Guide's review
This building is the work of Elias Bouman and was completed in 1675. Intended as a place of worship for Portuguese Jewish congregations, this red brick synagogue dominates Mr. Visserplein square. The interior, with its broad barrel vaults, tall columns, Holy Ark made from Jacaranda wood and chandeliers adorned with candles, has changed little since the 17C.
