The Michelin Guide's review
Also known as the Red Mosque, this Mamluk building (1415) is the latest example of mosques with porticos. Embellished with stalactites and fitted with black and white marble, the entrance portal frames a splendid lime tree wood door bearing repoussé bronze plaques. Its two flaps (5.9m high) come from Sultan Hassan Mosque. Look out for the mihrab, decorated entirely with polychrome marble and embellished with mother-of-pearl and ivory inlays, and the minbar (pulpit with stairs).
